Gilbert Solar Company for Phoenix Valley Homes
Verix Energy is a solar company in Gilbert, AZ. Gilbert is our home city. The Town of Gilbert does not run the electric utility. Its utilities page lists Salt River Project and Arizona Public Service for residential electric service, and the town's emergency page says both operate inside the town. Water, wastewater, and solid waste are the town's own services. Verix Energy handles design and sales for home solar panels and batteries. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors install the equipment.
Is my Gilbert home on SRP or APS?
It can be either. The Town of Gilbert says Salt River Project and Arizona Public Service both operate in town, and the company on your electric bill is the one that reviews a solar interconnection.
The town water bill is not the electric bill. Gilbert provides water, wastewater, and solid waste. Electricity inside the town is Salt River Project or Arizona Public Service. The Town of Gilbert says both utilities operate here. The company named on the electric bill is the one that reviews a solar interconnection.
What happens if my Gilbert home is on SRP?
If SRP is on the Gilbert bill, the home stays an SRP customer. A licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractor submits the distributed energy application. The facility can be solar, a battery, or both. It has to be in SRP electric territory, which the bill already demonstrates. The property owner signs an interconnection agreement before the system is interconnected.
SRP publishes solar price plans for homes with on-site generation and storage. Demand-based plans include Customer Generation and Average Demand. Export-based plans include Time-of-Use Export and Electric Vehicle Export. Demand is measured from the highest on-peak hour of electricity taken from SRP, and the on-peak window depends on the plan. Export credit can be the fixed export treatment SRP publishes, or a market-based option, and SRP also describes a capacity credit that can sit beside an energy credit. Verix Energy does not choose the plan for you and does not promise the bill.
Two SRP rules are worth knowing before anyone talks about equipment. M-Power, the prepay program, is not compatible with customer generation metering, and SRP unenrolls that customer from M-Power when a customer generation price plan starts. And the residential requirements give six months from the application for the system to be installed and interconnected. If the design includes a battery, SRP wants that battery charged at the final inspection. The system should not be energized for normal use before that inspection, except for testing. Permission to operate is the letter that follows a passed inspection.
What happens if my Gilbert home is on APS?
If the bill says Arizona Public Service, the Gilbert address is an APS interconnection, even though a neighbor on the next street may be SRP. A licensed contractor files the application with APS and includes the site plan and the electrical diagram. APS can issue permission to operate by email and by a door hanger. The APS guide says not to operate the system before that permission.
When a battery is part of an APS application, the packet includes the battery specification sheet. A parallel system is identified as exporting or non-exporting. That choice belongs in the design, because it changes what the utility is being asked to accept. The home remains an APS customer and still draws from APS when the panels and the battery are not covering the load. Verix Energy does not write APS export rules.
Do not decide SRP versus APS from a subdivision entrance or from a ZIP code. The town lists both companies and publishes both customer numbers for outages. We start from the name printed on your bill. If you are looking at a house in Mesa, that city has a third utility downtown. Use the Mesa solar company page for that case.
Can I add a home battery to solar in Gilbert?
Yes. A battery can be part of the original proposal, and it can sometimes be added to panels already on the roof, depending on the inverter, the electrical panel, and a clear wall for the battery.
Gilbert is where Verix Energy designs both parts of the proposal: the panels that produce power in daylight, and the battery that stores some of it. Panels alone do not run the house at night, and they do not run it during an outage. A grid-tied system shuts off when the grid drops. A battery, with backup equipment, can keep selected circuits on. What stays on depends on the battery size and the loads you pick. Whole-home backup is a different design from a refrigerator and a few lights. We will not quote a runtime without that list.
The utility still shapes the storage design. An SRP battery has to be charged for SRP's final inspection, and the account moves onto an SRP solar price plan when the generating facility is approved. An APS battery is labeled exporting or non-exporting in the application, and APS permission to operate is still required. Neither letter is a town form. The Town of Gilbert is not the company that energizes the meter.
Storage can be in the original proposal, and it can sometimes be added to panels that are already up. Compatibility depends on the inverter, the panel, and a clear wall for the battery. Some systems need different equipment before storage can be added. We look at what is there and say if an add-on fits. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors install it. Verix Energy does not. More on the equipment choices is on the battery page.
Does Gilbert require a solar permit, and can an HOA say no?
The Town of Gilbert lists an ordinance that exempts solar systems from permit, but a battery, a service change, or other work can still need one, so the licensed contractor confirms the scope. An association cannot ban solar, though it can set reasonable placement rules.
The Town of Gilbert's building-code adoption list records ordinance 2238, dated June 30, 2009, as an exemption from permit for solar systems, along with wind turbines and water heater replacements. That is the town's description of the ordinance on its adoption list. It is not a promise that every related job is exempt. A battery, a service change, or work outside the exemption can still need a permit. The licensed contractor confirms the current scope with Gilbert Development Services. Utility permission to operate from SRP or APS is a separate approval, and a town permit exemption does not replace it.
Gilbert has many planned communities. For those homes, Arizona law says the association shall not prohibit the installation or use of a solar energy device. The definition includes a system that produces electrical power for the dwelling and may store energy. The association can still set reasonable placement rules, as long as the rules do not prevent installation, impair function, restrict use, or adversely affect cost or efficiency. A tile roof and a design review are normal in Gilbert. They are a placement conversation, not an automatic no. Homes without an association skip that step and still have the utility step.
Call or text 480-406-3127, or send the quote form. Bring the electric bill, and say whether you want panels, a battery, or both. We are open 7 days, 8 AM to 8 PM. Neighboring city pages cover different utilities: Mesa includes the City of Mesa electric utility downtown, Chandler is a mix of SRP and APS, and Queen Creek lists SRP on the town's resident page.
How does a Gilbert solar system get permission to operate?
SRP or APS, whichever is on the bill, grants permission to operate after the licensed contractor builds the system and files with that utility. Verix Energy is here in Gilbert for design and sales. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors install. Open 7 days, 8 AM to 8 PM.

-
Design to that utility
We walk through the SRP solar price plan or the APS interconnection path, including export treatment and what permission to operate means for that company.
-
Licensed contractor installs
A licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractor builds the system, confirms whether Gilbert requires a permit for that scope, and files with the utility. Verix Energy does not install the equipment.
-
Turn on only with permission
SRP or APS grants permission to operate. Until that happens, the system stays off except for any testing the utility allows.

Does Gilbert have its own electric utility?
No. The Town of Gilbert provides water, wastewater, and solid waste. For residential electricity, the town lists Salt River Project and Arizona Public Service, and its emergency page says both operate inside the town. The electric bill names which one serves the house. A town water bill cannot answer that.
How do I know if my Gilbert home is SRP or APS?
Read the electric bill. The town does not publish a street-by-street substitute, and a ZIP code is not one either. If the bill says SRP, the interconnection and the solar price plan are SRP's. If it says APS, the application, including whether a battery exports, goes to APS. Two nearby Gilbert streets can land on different companies.
Can a Gilbert home pair solar panels with a battery?
Yes, that is a normal design conversation here. The battery stores daytime production for later use, and with backup equipment it can support selected circuits in an outage. Grid-tied panels without a battery shut off when the grid is down. On SRP, the battery must be charged for the final inspection. On APS, the application identifies the battery as exporting or non-exporting. We will not promise a backup duration without the list of circuits you want on.
Will a Gilbert HOA have to allow a solar energy device?
If the home is in a planned community, the association shall not prohibit the installation or use of a solar energy device. Arizona's definition includes a system that produces power for the home and may store energy. The association may set reasonable placement rules that do not prevent installation, impair function, restrict use, or adversely affect cost or efficiency. A tile-roof review can still happen. A ban is a different question, and the statute addresses it.
Does Gilbert require a building permit for solar?
The town's building-code adoption list describes ordinance 2238, from June 30, 2009, as an exemption from permit for solar systems. Confirm the current scope before you assume a specific job is exempt. A battery or an electrical service change may still need a permit, and the licensed contractor checks that with Development Services. SRP or APS permission to operate is required either way. A permit exemption is not permission to turn the system on.
