Scottsdale Solar Company for Home Solar Panels

Verix Energy is a solar company in Scottsdale, AZ. Scottsdale is served by both Salt River Project and Arizona Public Service. South Scottsdale is largely SRP. North Scottsdale is largely APS. The City of Scottsdale's streetlight report says electrical service is provided by either utility. A ZIP code is not a reliable way to tell them apart. We are based in Gilbert and handle design and sales. Licensed contractors install.

Is my Scottsdale home on SRP or APS?

South Scottsdale is largely Salt River Project, and north Scottsdale is largely Arizona Public Service. The electric bill is the proof for any single home.

The split runs through Scottsdale rather than around it. South Scottsdale is largely Salt River Project. North Scottsdale is largely Arizona Public Service. The city's streetlight report states that electrical service is provided by either utility. Homes near the line, and anyone relying on a ZIP code, should trust the electric bill rather than the neighborhood name.

What happens if my Scottsdale home is on SRP?

In much of south Scottsdale, SRP is the electric utility. A licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractor submits the interconnection to SRP and permits the work with the City of Scottsdale. The system should not run in normal operation until SRP grants permission to operate. Before the final inspection, energizing is for testing only.

SRP publishes solar price plans for customers with on-site generation and storage. Some are demand-based and some are export-based. How energy sent back to SRP is credited depends on the plan the homeowner picks. The home still draws from SRP when production falls short, unless a battery is discharging. If a battery is in the design, SRP requires it to be charged at the final inspection. Verix Energy does not write the plan and does not promise a bill outcome.

South Scottsdale also has older houses with panels already on the roof. An SRP add-on for storage is still an SRP filing. It is not an APS filing with a Scottsdale address on the cover. The existing inverter has to be able to work with the battery, or the contractor has to say that it cannot. We would rather hear that early.

What happens if my Scottsdale home is on APS?

In much of north Scottsdale, APS is the electric utility. The contractor files the interconnection with APS, and the City of Scottsdale still handles the building permit. APS grants permission to operate before the system turns on. The guide tells the customer not to operate before that notice, which comes by email and a door hanger.

Energy sent back to APS is credited under APS export rules for that application. Grid power from APS still covers the home when the system does not, unless storage is included. A battery application includes the specification sheet and states whether the parallel system exports. Non-exporting storage and exporting storage are different requests. Verix Energy does not pick that box without talking through how you want the battery to behave.

Tile roofs, long driveways, and a ZIP code do not tell you the utility. North versus south is only a hint. We are a solar company in Gilbert. We read the Scottsdale bill, then we design. Licensed contractors install.

Can I add a battery to existing solar in Scottsdale?

Sometimes. It depends on the inverter, the electrical panel, and a place to mount the battery that meets clearance rules.

A lot of Scottsdale calls are not "should I get panels." The panels are already there, and the question is whether a battery can be added. Sometimes yes. It depends on the inverter, the electrical panel, and a place to mount the battery that meets clearance rules. Some systems need a different inverter or a backup gateway before storage works. We review what you have. We will say if an add-on does not fit. That answer is more useful than a catalog photo.

The reason people ask is evening use and outages. Panels do not produce at night. A battery can shift daytime production into those hours, subject to the utility plan on the bill. In an outage, grid-tied solar without storage shuts off. With a battery and backup equipment, selected circuits can stay on. South Scottsdale SRP homes and north Scottsdale APS homes do not share an application for that battery. SRP inspects a charged battery and ties generation to an SRP solar price plan. APS marks the system exporting or non-exporting and issues its own permission to operate.

We will not quote hours of backup. Air conditioning dominates the load in a Scottsdale summer evening, and a design that covers lights and a refrigerator is not the design that covers the air conditioner. Tell us which circuits matter. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors install. Verix Energy handles design and sales. The equipment overview that is not tied to one city is on the battery page.

Can a Scottsdale HOA stop solar on a tile roof?

No. An association can set reasonable placement rules, such as asking to shift modules away from the front elevation, but Arizona law says it shall not prohibit a solar energy device.

Scottsdale roofs are often concrete tile, and associations often care how an array looks from the street. That preference is not the same as a prohibition. If the home is in a planned community, Arizona law says the association shall not prohibit the installation or use of a solar energy device. The definition includes a system that produces electrical power for the home and may store energy. Reasonable placement rules are allowed only when they do not prevent installation, impair the function, restrict the use, or adversely affect the cost or efficiency. A request to shift modules away from the front elevation can be a placement rule. A flat no is what the statute addresses.

The City of Scottsdale is still the building department for the permit inside the city, whether the utility is SRP or APS. The utility letter comes after inspection. Verix Energy does not pull either approval. The licensed contractor does. If you already have solar, say so at the start, because the permit is an alteration of an existing system and the inverter question comes first.

How does Scottsdale solar get approved by the right utility?

The utility on the bill, SRP or APS, decides when the system may operate. City of Scottsdale inspection is part of the path, but it is not the final switch. Verix Energy handles design and sales from Gilbert. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors install. Open 7 days, 8 AM to 8 PM.

  1. Call with the Scottsdale bill

Call or text 480-406-3127, or request a quote. South and north often differ. The bill settles SRP or APS. Mention existing panels if you have them.

  2. Design to that company

We explain SRP solar price plans or the APS export rules, and what a battery changes in that filing, before anyone promises an add-on.

  3. Licensed contractor installs

A licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractor permits the work with the City of Scottsdale and files the interconnection. Verix Energy does not install the equipment.

  4. Utility decision

The utility reviews the application and decides when the system may operate. City inspection is part of the path. It is not the final switch.

What else do Scottsdale homeowners ask about solar?

Is Verix Energy a solar company in Scottsdale?

Verix Energy is a solar company for Scottsdale design and sales. We are based in Gilbert, AZ. We confirm whether the bill is Salt River Project or Arizona Public Service and we prepare the proposal. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors install. Verix Energy does not install the equipment and is not a licensed contractor.

Why do south Scottsdale and north Scottsdale often have different utilities?

South Scottsdale is largely SRP. North Scottsdale is largely APS. The City of Scottsdale reports that electrical service is provided by either Salt River Project or Arizona Public Service. The line does not follow a ZIP code. The electric bill is the document the interconnection follows. A neighbor's utility is not yours until the bill says so.

Can I add home storage if I already have solar in Scottsdale?

Often, and not always. It depends on your inverter, your electrical panel, and a code-compliant place to mount the battery. Some systems need different equipment first. On SRP the battery must be charged for the final inspection. On APS the application states whether the battery exports. We review the current system before saying an add-on will work.

What happens to grid-tied solar in a Scottsdale outage?

It shuts off. That is a safety rule so the roof does not energize a line while it is being repaired. A battery with backup equipment is what lets selected circuits stay on. It is not a promise that the air conditioner runs for days. Tell us the circuits you care about and we will size the conversation from that list.

Can a Scottsdale HOA reject solar because of how the roof looks?

If the home is in a planned community, the association shall not prohibit a solar energy device. It may set reasonable placement rules that do not prevent installation, impair function, restrict use, or adversely affect cost or efficiency. Tile roofs and street-facing slopes come up often in Scottsdale. A placement conversation can be real. A ban is what the statute does not allow. The definition includes systems that store energy for the home.

What is the first step before a Scottsdale system can turn on?

Permission to operate from the utility on the bill, after the City of Scottsdale inspection. SRP and APS each issue their own approval. Verix Energy explains the steps. The licensed contractor files them. The system stays off, except for testing the utility allows, until that approval.
