Goodyear Solar: What the City and Your HOA Can Ask

Most Goodyear homes are on Arizona Public Service. Salt River Project does not list Goodyear among the cities it serves, though the bill is still the proof for any one house. The City of Goodyear accepts SolarAPP+ designs for eligible homes, and its master-planned communities bring design review into many projects.

Verix Energy is based in Gilbert, in the East Valley, and serves Goodyear and the West Valley. We sell. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors design and install.

Does a Goodyear home qualify for SolarAPP+?

Goodyear's Building Safety Division takes SolarAPP+ approvals through its online portal when every condition below is met. Otherwise the job goes through standard residential photovoltaic review.

The home

A single-family home or duplex, roof-mounted, on single-phase electrical service no larger than 400 amps.

The roof

The array's dead load on the roof cannot be more than 5 pounds per square foot.

No existing system

The home cannot already have solar or battery storage. New solar with storage can qualify.

The contractor

Arizona licensed and registered with SolarAPP+.

Adding a battery to existing Goodyear solar

Because Goodyear's SolarAPP+ path excludes homes that already have solar or storage, a battery added to an existing array normally goes through standard review. That is a different queue, not a dead end. On APS, the application also states whether the battery will export to the grid. For how backup works and what a battery can carry in an outage, see the battery page.

Estrella, PebbleCreek and the Garden Lakes case

Goodyear's large planned communities, including Estrella and PebbleCreek, have associations with design review. Arizona's limits on those associations were tested just next door.

When a Goodyear bill doesn't say APS

City notices about neighborhood outages, such as one in Estrella Vista South in July 2026, name APS as the utility making repairs. Maricopa County notes that electric service depends on location, not on the city name. If your bill names SRP or another utility, that utility runs the interconnection, and the proposal should be built for it from the start.

On APS, the contractor files after the city permit clears, and the system stays off until APS sends permission to operate.

Serving Goodyear from the other side of the Valley

We are a Gilbert company and do not keep a Goodyear office. Consultations happen by phone, by text, or in person at your home. The permit, the inspections and the install belong to the licensed contractor.

Service areas

Based in Gilbert, working with homeowners across the East Valley, West Valley and central Phoenix.

Goodyear homeowners ask

What is the best solar company in Goodyear?

Nobody can name one for every Goodyear roof. Two questions separate prepared companies from the rest: does the home qualify for SolarAPP+ under Goodyear's limits, and what will your association's design review want? Check the installer's license with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. Verix Energy sells and consults from Gilbert and does not post rankings.

Is Goodyear on APS or SRP?

Mostly APS. SRP does not list Goodyear among its cities, and city outage notices name APS. Your bill confirms it.

Can my Goodyear HOA reject solar panels?

It can ask for reasonable placement, but it cannot ban them. Arizona courts applied that rule to an Avondale association in Garden Lakes v. Madigan.

Why can't a battery add-on use Goodyear's SolarAPP+ path?

Goodyear's SolarAPP+ program excludes homes that already have solar or storage, so an add-on battery normally goes through standard review.

Does Verix Energy install solar in Goodyear?

No. We consult and sell. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors design the system, permit it with the city, and install it.
