San Tan Valley Solar: Town Permit or County Permit?
San Tan Valley voted to become a town in 2025. Since November 1, 2026, the Town of San Tan Valley issues building permits inside its limits, and homes outside them still go through Pinal County. The electric side did not change: the area is mostly Salt River Project, with Arizona Public Service at some addresses toward the south.
Verix Energy is based in Gilbert, just up the road past Queen Creek. We handle the consultation and the sale. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors design and install.
Which office takes a San Tan Valley solar permit?
The town line decides, not the mailing address. Plenty of homes here have a Queen Creek or Florence mailing address, and neither the city on the envelope nor the ZIP code names the permit office.

SRP is the usual name on a San Tan Valley bill
Pinal County's San Tan Valley Special Area Plan names SRP as the electric provider for the plan area, and that is what most bills show. Some addresses, mostly to the south, are on APS. Incorporating did not move anyone from one to the other.
Electrical District No. 3 comes up in Pinal County, but its published service area is the City of Maricopa and Stanfield. If a bill here ever names a district, we follow that district's process.
SRP puts a clock on the job: it allows six months from the application for the system to be installed and interconnected, and the system should not run beyond testing until SRP's final inspection and its permission-to-operate letter. On APS homes, permission arrives by email and a door hanger.
Builder panels, batteries and HOA review
Most homes here are production homes in planned subdivisions, and the main electrical panel the builder chose matters more than people expect, especially with a battery. Some panels take storage as they are. Others need an upgrade, which is its own permit item. The battery page covers backup basics, including why panels alone shut off in an outage.
Those subdivisions almost all have an association and were recorded well after 1980, so Arizona's solar access law applies in full. An HOA can ask for reasonable placement, but under ARS 33-1816 it cannot prohibit rooftop solar.

San Tan Valley questions we hear
Who is the best solar company in San Tan Valley?
No neutral scoreboard exists, so be wary of anyone who claims the title. A quick test here: ask whether your address permits through the town or Pinal County, and how they checked. A company that cannot say is guessing. Verix Energy sells and consults from Gilbert, licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors install, and you can look up any license with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
Does Pinal County still issue solar permits in San Tan Valley?
For the unincorporated area, yes. Inside town limits, new permits have gone to the Town of San Tan Valley since November 1, 2026. Jobs the county accepted before then stay with the county.
My mailing address says Queen Creek. Which page applies?
Check the parcel, not the envelope. If the home is inside the Town of Queen Creek, see our Queen Creek page. If it is in San Tan Valley, the town or the county issues the permit.
Is ED3 the utility in San Tan Valley?
Probably not. ED3 publishes its service area as the City of Maricopa and Stanfield. San Tan Valley homes are mostly on SRP, with some on APS.
Does Verix Energy install solar in San Tan Valley?
No. We are a sales and consulting company in Gilbert. Licensed, ROC-certified Arizona contractors handle the design, the permit and the installation.
